Reflections from my new business owner persona
Rubin BashaBeing a business owner is often associated with freedom and independence.
What is discussed less is the constant responsibility that comes with it.
At BasalBit, and in my role as a co-founder, most decisions are made without perfect information. Trade-offs are unavoidable. The consequences, good or bad, ultimately rest with you.
My approach to business is simple but demanding. Focus on fair deals. I look for real win-win situations, where the value created clearly exceeds the effort and cost required to produce it. Profit matters, but it is not the goal by itself. The real measure is whether our clients achieve tangible, lasting results.
Building a company that creates genuine return on investment requires discipline, patience, and a long-term perspective. Some days progress feels invisible. Feedback takes longer than expected. Doubt gets loud. Still, you show up, for your team, your clients, and the standards you set for yourself.
Entrepreneurship is not about chasing upside. It is also not about being your own boss, we all serve someone, the client and customers are the final boss.
It is about consistently making sound decisions under uncertainty.
For those building companies with a similar mindset:
How do you define "success" beyond profitability?
A later thought
Entrepreneurship is not a straight path from struggle to success. It is an endless sequence of choices, setbacks, small victories, loops, and new levels, and the real story is simply continuing to play.
